An Elegant Mercedes-Benz C 200 in Silver Spotted in the Philippines

With over a million miles logged in testing, and a million more hours subject to pure torment in the hot desert sands of Nevada and Dubai to the cold winter winds of Russia and the Arctic, was the W204 C-Class put through. However, before all of that, the third gen C-Class of the Mercedes-Benz brand was forged, rather than fire and brimstone, but through Intel CPUs, computer geeks, and the sputtering sound of the Mercedes-Benz office coffee machine.

In the hot German summer of 2003, the W204 was the first Mercedes-Benz to ever be designed as a digital blueprint, containing over 2 terabytes of data, before actually being made. The computerized prototype was put through a virtual distance of at least 15 million miles, and numerous computer simulations of crash tests before a physical copy of the car even existed. At the end of the year, the design of the W204 was touched up before its physical fiberglass model was released to the public in 2004.

And in the beginning of the year 2007, was the all-new C-Class introduced at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show. The car was then put through production until the release of its next generation in 2015. Its muscular-look, contrasted with its feel of elegance was critically acclaimed by reviewers and buyers. Its shiny, traditional Mercedes-Benz grille on its own gave a flair of luxury unlike many of its rivaling luxury automakers.

This one, badged as the C 200 Kompressor, was a C-Class fitted with a 1.8L supercharged engine. It generated more than 180 brake horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This gave it a top speed of 234 km/h, taking 9.2 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km on a straight line.

Inside, however, was a breath of fresh air from all the sporty trims and racing stripes. Its smooth leather interior and easy-to-use gadgets and gizmos made its cockpit extremely comfortable and generally being a nice place to spend the day in, whether you were on an endurance race on the track or stuck on the narrow, cramped streets behind a diesel truck.

Because of its arduous testing, the W204 had the ability to be subjected to long years of wear and tear. Although not on the same level as a Lexus, it was still very reliable for a luxury car. However, due to its use of Mercedes-Benz's 4MATIC transmission system, drivers should beware of its known history of problems.

Despite coming in with a few problems like any other car, the W204 is one spectacular piece of vehicular machinery. Its luxury, abundance of comfort within, sportiness, and general impressiveness almost makes it feel like a trusty and pleasant friend. And because of its age, acquiring one nowadays isn't as costly as it was then, and as it will become in the future as a classic.
